Question 1
Are these subs broken or not wired right.?... Have amp wired and set all powered on. Hooked up to subs, they come on but about as loud as a pair of headphones. Wired the amp to the component system ( 2 6x9's at 400w each, 2 5 inch, 4 6 inch) a total of about 1600w and it makes them shine. So i will admit, im stupid when it comes to these things. The subs are brand new right out of box. 400 RMS subs with 1200 peak power.

1) Make sure your + and - is hooked up right . Sounds like a polarity issue. - bernzo
2) turn your stereo up to where you would normally have it, then turn your amp up until its the sound you want. maybe thats it - Logan

4) what kind of head unit do u have if sony make sure that your sub setting is turned up. turn the gain up on your amp what kind of amp do u have to. is there an lpf on it. if so turn it up about half way. make sure that you have enough air space in the box as well. there is all kinds of thing it could be. - Curtis M

Question 2
Iam trying to install keyless entry in car and i connect the lock/unlock wires and the fuse just blows??.?...

1) STOP---don't do anymore work--go to a professional installer. Electric can INSTANTLY cause a major fire and ruin your car----that is not a job for YOU. Obviously YOU have a major short circuit and are just asking for trouble. They may say its easy to install--BUT IT ISN'T - fire_inur_eyes
2) you have something wired up wrong. a hot connected to a ground. troubleshoot and try again. go through it wire by wire. - codie
3) Before you go any farther,double check all the wires that you have hooked up, it sounds like you have one of the wires crossed,causing it to short the fuse out. - Handyman

which is a better amplifier?... which is a better amp to power an orion hcca 15, the Power Acoustik OVN1-5500D or the Hifonics BXi 2610D? i want the most power but the best amp

2) neither I would go with a Directed class "D" amp,thats what I have powering my two 12'' Cerwin Vega stroker 124's(4000w/2000w rms a piece)and they SLLAAAMM!!!!!

Why is my subwoofer rattling?... In my vehicle i have 2 Alpine Type-R 12" subwoofers, each to its own 500W Alpine Amp. I was driving with my music today, and suddenly it started to rattle, and then they dimmed out to not making any more sound.
Upon further inspection, when i turn the subwoofers on (they are wired to switch on my dash) one rattles, the other is really quiet, but doesnt seem to be rattling. Upon pushing in on the one that is rattling, it makes a scratching noise, like something is rubbing on something. The other (the quiet one) makes no noise when pushing in on it.
Did i blow the rattling subwoofer? and if so, why is the other quiet now?
So assuming the rattling one is shot, why is the other so quiet?

3) The rattling one is shot. The scratching sound is from a heat distorted voice coil rubbing on the magnet. - William W

Question 5
Which amp for 2 KICKER CVR 12's?... I have 2 kicker cvr 12's and i wanted to know which amp will make them hit hard the zx550.2 or the zx750.1 or the zx850.2? please let me know. Thanks

1) the zx750.1 if they are the 2 ohm version of the subs - Cody
2) Before I built my ported box for one CVR 12 dual 4ohm subwoofer, I demoed two of them in a sealed box for about a week. All I ran was an old Cadence Z1000 amp at 1ohm. The amp is rated for 400 watts RMS at 2 ohms, so I would imagine at 1ohm it would be in the 600-800 RMS range.
It pushed the two cvr's great. My cell phone would bounce around on the roof of my car.
Out of the three amps you chose, the 750.1 would be the best. I do not know if kicker amps are stable at 1ohm loads.
Figure out what your final ohm load back to your amp will be when you wire it up, and then choose an amp. - Brad D
