Question 3
Should I wire my subwoofers in series or parallel?...  I have two 12inch alpine type r's, with a Power Acoustik BBAMF2000/1D 2000W class D mono block amp. Should I wire them in series or parallel?

Answers
1)   without knowing which ohm voice coils your subs have nobody can answer your question.http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp - dragon breath

2)   If they are dual 4 ohm wire them parallel and make sure you adjust the gains properly. At 1 ohm the amplifier is 1200 watts RMS and the subwoofers combined can handle 1000 total. If they are dual 2 ohm then wire them series. - designkidcom

3)   If you have the dual 4 ohm versions, connect the voice coils in parallel, then connect each sub in parallel to the amp. That way you will get a 1 ohm load off the amp (1200 w rms/600w rms each sub).

If you have the dual 2 ohm, try connecting the voice coils in series, then connect the subs in parallel to the amp; getting 2 ohm load off of the amp (900 w rms/450w rms each sub).

You got good equipment, so the differences in output wont be harmful to subs or amp (taking you dont tune your amp wrong). - Ljet

4)   i just need points pls dont rate bad pls - Max

Question 4
Need help why is my subwoofer rattling?...  Okay I have a 2003 bmw M3 convertible. My subwoofer rattles like crazy, stock harmon kardon sound system. But I noticed when I put pressure on the subwoofer the rattling stops. So what can I do to get rid of the rattling?

Answers
1)   it is blown .. it must be replaces. the webbing that helps control the motion of the speaker is damaged . this is common with factory free air subs . - Tim

2)   they might have sold you a old subwoofer in a shiny new box-

It might be ur trunk/ liscence plate also. My sis taught me there is some tape you can use to line ur trunk to help stop the rattle- also this thing u can put on your lisence plate-

Go to autostore like pep boys auto zone ect. They help u fix it. - evian001.

3)   I agree the sub is most likely blown and if it is old or has been exposed to elements so to say then the cone and or rubber/foam around the edge of the cone could be deteriorating alowi g the cone to hit something causing your "rattle" - Jachob

Question 5
does this need power to work?...  this link ---------- http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Gear-Speaker-Component-Kit/dp/B0007LCLPE/ref=pd_bxgy__text_c ------------ is to a speaker setup and i'm wondering if you can just wire them in (to the original sound system no amp) or do you need to run extra power to it (the crossovers) and if so how much (i think the crossovers are passive so i don't think you do) but you know i just want to be sure. Thanks

Answers
1)   You CAN wire them directly, using the wires from the factory speakers. However, since they are 200 watt RMS, I would get an amp for them. If you are installing just those two, you should get a 300-400watt amp for optimal performance.

If you are installing them with rear speakers too (and you want the rear speakers wired to the same amp) you should get a 600-800 watt amp, since it will send 150-200 watts to each speaker. - SarahJ123

2)   The crossovers deal with frequency not power. It says the speakers are 200w rms. No head unit puts out that amount of power, but then again they are pyle's wich are known for lying about power ratings, and pretty much bottom of the barrel car audio. If this is all you can afford, just wait until you can get something worth spending your money on. - zimzam

3)   Generally a decent set of aftermarket speakers will run much better if they're driven by an amp that's reasonably powerful (50-100w rms x 2). However, pyle is among the lower quality speaker manufacturer's out there and there might not be a lot to gain considering the expense and hassle of installing an amp.

A standard head unit should provide around 15w per channel. If you're using the stock HU it can vary pretty widely. Either way it doesn't take much power to drive a set of full range speakers to a usable level.

If you get them put in and don't like what you hear you can always try an amp later.

But honestly, you can't expect great performance from a $40 set of Pyle components. - N2Audio
